What this register keeps.
Ink Register is a service of Record of Sale, LLC. It is separate from Notice Nearby.
Votes
A vote stores the choice, a hash of a random browser token, and a salted hash of a coarse network hint plus the browser family. The raw IP address is not stored. There is no account in this version. Clearing site data for inkregister.com can allow another vote; the coarse hint is a light backstop and can also collide on a shared office network. Set FINGERPRINT_GUARD=off to disable that backstop.
An address is stored only if you ask for local poll alerts. It stays pending until you confirm from the email. We keep the address, confirmation status, the poll you were reading, and the attribution fields you arrived with (source, hub, county, ref). After confirmation, the address can be copied to Resend so a broadcast can be sent. Unsubscribe and preference links are in each message. A preference can turn alerts off without a full unsubscribe. Unsubscribing removes you from future alerts and marks the Resend contact unsubscribed when that API key is configured.
Notice Nearby
Notice Nearby may embed a frame or a small script served from this site. That page does not receive the poll database or the mailing list. Attribution on the frame is stored with the vote or the signup so Record of Sale can see which notice sent someone here.
